Your voice is yours. Period.
The short version: we store your recordings on our servers long enough to transcribe them and generate insights. You can delete any recording at any time. We never train AI models on your audio. We never sell your data. If you stop using Voice Trail, your data goes with you.
What we collect
Audio recordings
When you tap Record in Voice Trail, audio is captured on your iPhone and uploaded to our servers in encrypted chunks while the recording is in progress. After processing, the final audio file is kept on our servers so you can access it across devices. You can delete any recording at any time from the app.
Meeting context
Who you're meeting with (name, company, email you add yourself), meeting notes you type, meeting timestamps, and meeting participants' voices in the recording.
Usage data
We log basic app usage (when you open the app, which features you tap) so we can fix bugs and improve the product. This does not include the content of your meetings or recordings.
Account data
Your email address (via Sign in with Apple) and display name. That's it.
What we do with it
- Transcription: we send your audio to Deepgram. Their terms commit them not to train models on our data.
- Intelligence: we send transcripts to Anthropic (Claude) to generate summaries, quotes, and draft follow-ups. Anthropic's API does not train on this data.
- Storage: audio and transcripts live in our infrastructure on Ubuntu servers in the United States, encrypted at rest.
- Nothing else. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers. We do not use your recordings to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's.
What you control
- Delete any recording, any time. From the app, long-press a recording and tap Delete. Gone from our servers within 24 hours.
- Auto-delete. Enable auto-delete in Settings, and recordings older than 90 days are automatically purged.
- Export everything. From Settings, you can export all your People, meetings, and transcripts as CSV or JSON.
- Delete your account. Account deletion wipes everything we hold about you within 30 days.
Consent and legality
You are responsible for obtaining consent from everyone in a meeting before recording. Many US states require all-party consent. Voice Trail is a tool for authorized recording, not covert recording. See our Terms for details.
Children
Voice Trail is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Changes to this policy
If we meaningfully change this policy we'll email you. Material changes only. No corporate legalese updates that nobody reads.
